The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. is an organization of professional female educators with 133 chapters throughout the continental United States, Barbados, and Monrovia, Liberia.
One aspect of the Sorority’s YES Program is that of Youth Guidance. Educators in the United States supervise this facet of the program. Its major components include leadership training; development of strategies and study methods aimed at academic achievement, the conceptualization of excellence, social growth, and community service participation.
The above activities culminate annually at a Regional Xinos/Kudos Conference. Members living in the area meet in a city designated by the Sorority, which is the sponsoring organization.
At the conference, the Xinos (9-12 grade girls group) and Kudos (9-12 grade boys group) compete in oratorical presentations, debate current issues using the UIL guidelines, attend educational workshops and tours relevant to self-improvement and academic achievement, visit local colleges and universities, display talents through music, song, dance, arts, crafts, and live in a supervised hotel environment.
There are about 200 young men and women in attendance at each conference that return to school highly motivated to enhance their academic achievement levels and pursue future endeavors related to post-graduation and college readiness.
